EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW: Sneak peek at Channel Seven’s House Rules: High Stakes proves that the competition will reach new heights this season

House Rules: High Stakes will see eight teams renovate the penthouse on the 32-storey Focus Tower at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. 

The stakes are higher than ever before, as the teams to compete to impress the new and returning judges – homestyle consultant Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, interior designer Kyly Clarke and home builder Saul Myers.

Now in its eighth season, House Rules will be hosted by internationally acclaimed designer and former House Rules judge Jamie Durie and Seven’s sports presenter Abbey Way.

Interior designer Carolyn Burns-McCrave will mentor the ambitious teams, which include heartwarming mother and son duo Lenore and Bradley from Western Sydney and Queenslanders Carly and Andrew. 

In the teaser, menswear designer Anthony can be seen tearing up as he explains what the grand prize – a dream home renovation – means to him.

‘It’s the first time I can give back to my family, for everything they’ve done for me in my life,’ he said in the clip.

He hopes that winning the competition will help give his mother and stepfather ‘the home they deserve’. 

Tasmanian twins Kimmy and Rhi also felt going on the show was the only way their ‘house dreams can come true’. 

In a tense moment of the teaser, one of the sisters storms off as she tells the production crew she ‘wasn’t going to talk about it’, leaving her sister behind in tears.

Brisbane couple Carly and Andrew have already been tipped to win, as they previously renovated a deceased estate in Marrickville and another in Greenacre.

On their previous project, they lowered ceiling height, removed walls to create open plan living and completed a full bathroom renovation.

‘We started off desperately in love, by the end of that building hopefully we’re still married,’ Carly said in another trailer for House Rules. 

 House Rules: High Stakes premieres Monday at 7pm on Channel Seven
