Married At First Sight: Stacey Hampton reveals why no law firms will give her a job

She WON’T see you in court! Married At First Sight’s Stacey Hampton reveals why no law firms will give her a job after she finished her degree

Married At First Sight’s Stacey Hampton has revealed why no law firms will give her a job despite being legally able to practise in South Australia since last year.

The 26-year-old graduate said that most employers aren’t willing to hire her for just three days a week, which she is asking for because she has two children at home.

‘If I did five days a week then I feel like I’m not being fair on my children and I’m not there for them,’ she explained in a YouTube video on Wednesday.

Stacey said that being a single mother had impacted both her career and dating life because her sons, Kosta and Kruz, always come first.

‘A lot of people ask why I’m not using my law degree, but not many law firms like to take on people who only want three days a week,’ she began.

‘If I did five days a week then I feel like I’m not being fair on my children and I’m not there for them and I’m not helping them with their schooling and stuff like that.

‘Being a single parent has impacted me quite a lot, but I’m also so blessed and wouldn’t have my life any other way.’

Stacey also opened up about completing her law degree while raising her sons.

‘I’m very self-motivated and when you are self-motivated, you can do anything in life. I got all of the work I needed to do, took it home and did it there so I could raise my children. I also had a very supportive network,’ she explained.

‘Their dad was very supportive. My mum was very supportive. And their godmother, who I went through law school with, was also very supportive. We would do the same classes, study together and make sure we’d go to the exams together.’

Stacey continued: ‘I won’t do family law, when I was doing my graduate diploma in law I was doing a placement with someone who deals with contracts and copy – which is what I love. That’s what I want to do.

‘Family law is so draining, emotionally and mentally – and the fact that I have children I don’t think I could do it. I don’t think family law is fair on the children [involved in cases] – I couldn’t handle it. I’ve read some things and it’s just not nice.’
