MasterChef Australia: The Professionals will be offering up an unusual ingredient in an upcoming challenge – chicken feet. 

In a preview which aired after Tuesday’s episode, the contestants must cook a meal based on items found in a mystery box put together by Melissa Leong.

In the clip, judge Jock Zonfrillo sounds shocked as he reveals someone is making ‘chicken feet ice cream’.

That comment left many on Twitter shocked about the particularly creative savoury dessert choice.

One person Tweeted: ‘Imagine not getting eliminated just to make chicken feet ice cream’. 

Another wrote: ‘Someone definitely needs to be arrested for the chicken feet ice cream tomorrow.’

Someone else chimed in: ‘Did I just hear chicken feet ice cream? With great big gobs of greasy grimy gophers guts?’ 

Another viewer Tweeted:  ‘I’m just going to pretend I didn’t hear ‘chicken feet ice-cream’ in the preview for tomorrow’s episode’. 

However others were supportive, with the ingredient a popular one in many Asian dishes. 

One fan Tweeted:  ‘I am pumped for chicken feet to enter the mainstream. Hoping they represent the ingredient and cultures that serve it with respect.’

Elsewhere in the preview, judge Melissa could be seen confronting Khanh Ong as he frantically cooks. 

She tells him, albeit laughingly: ‘If you screw this up, I don’t know if we can be friends anymore!’ 

Melissa also has words with Reynold Poernomo, who she asks, ‘Reynold are you trying to set the place on fire?’ 

However the overall challenge appears to go well, with judge Andy Allen saying, ‘What is it with everyone just cooking these banging dishes today?’
