MasterChef viewers react to professional chefs burning crumpets during pressure round

‘I’ve had one in the toaster since 2013 and it’s not even done yet!’ Viewers are gobsmacked as professional chefs burn crumpets during a pressure round on MasterChef: Back To Win

MasterChef contestants were tasked with making riberry crumpets with whipped butter and sugarbag honey during Tuesday night’s episode.

But three contestants – Ben Ungermann, Khanh Ong and Reece Hignell – burnt their crumpets as they juggled two other dishes.

While the returning fan favourites struggled, MasterChef viewers on Twitter had some hilarious reactions to the crumpet chaos.

‘How do you burn a crumpet?’ MasterChef viewers hilariously reacted to professional chefs burning crumpets during a pressure round on Tuesday night’s episode

‘How do you burn a crumpet? I’ve had one in the toaster since 2013 and it’s not even toasted yet,’ one person wrote.

‘How’s this supposed to be MasterChef when half of ’em can’t even make a crumpet?’ another viewer asked.

Amazed by the number of burnt cakes, one person asked: ‘So… everyone’s making burnt crumpets?’

‘Glad to see even MasterChef contestants try to scrape the burnt bits off,’ one viewer joked, referring to the fact that Ben tried to salvage his crispy cakes.

Another person tweeted: ‘Say crumpet one more time.’

‘This poop chute in my prawn is terrible… now, excuse me whilst I lather my crumpet with bee vomit,’ one person wrote, referencing contestants who failed to remove the digestive tract from their shellfish.

During the episode, Khanh burnt his first batch of crumpets and was forced to redo them.

Even in his second batch, he burnt one crumpet and could only serve two instead of the required three.

Reece also burnt his crumpets and was forced to remake them quickly in the last five minutes.

Meanwhile, Ben flipped his first batch of crumpets too early, resulting in crumpets without any holes in them.

Double trouble! Khanh only served two crumpets as he burnt one

Struggling: Ben did not get any bubbles on his first batch and burnt his second batch

He made a second batch with his remaining batter but burnt them, attempting to salvage the griddle cakes by scraping the burnt bits off with a knife.

Ben ended up using his first batch instead as although they were hole-less, they were not burnt.

Reece and Ben both went to the next elimination round along with Courtney Roulston.

But the boys managed to escape elimination while Courtney was sent home packing.

MasterChef continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel 10
