‘They thought it was sepsis’: Olly Murs reveals he was rushed to hospital after a metal implant in his leg became infected following a knee operation
Olly Murs has revealed doctors thought he had sepsis after he was rushed into hospital with a ‘nasty’ infection.
The singer, 35, told how he had to be taken to hospital three months into recovery from a knee operation when a metal plate in his leg became infected.
Speaking on Instagram Live, Olly said: ‘When I had the operation my left leg had to be straightened and they put a plate in.

‘After three months the plate got infected so then I had to get rushed back into hospital, they thought it was sepsis.
‘They had to open me up again in case the infection spread. So it got nasty.’
In June, Olly shared snaps of himself from hospital, explaining he was taking time out after getting knee surgery.
However, the hitmaker was back at work as a judge on The Voice just three months later and admitted he isn’t sure how he managed to get through it.

‘I was back at The Voice three or four months after it. I don’t know how I got to The Voice. I powered through.’
He added: ‘It was so important for me to get my leg done because there wouldn’t be shows.
‘Obviously with this knee I’m not being able to perform on stage to my best ability for my fans. I needed to give it a year. I need to do rehab.’
Olly is currently in self-isolation with his girlfriend Amelia Tank amid the ongoing coronavirus lockdown.

The singer and his bodybuilder other half have been embroiled in a prank wore since quarantine began, documenting their antics on social media.
Olly had his followers in stitches with his latest Instagram prank video as he dressed up in a sombrero and poncho before blowing an air horn directly into his girlfriend’s face as she slept.
The star uploaded the hilarious video for his 3.2 million followers on Sunday morning with the caption: ‘Dear diary, it’s Day 39 of Lockdown. Woke up with the horn, she loved it.’
In the clip he starts off by dancing with the horn before creeping over to a sleeping Amelia, 27, and blowing it into her ear.

He then jumps on the bed and shakes some maracas before whipping the duvet off his disorientated girlfriend.
Olly’s last side-splitting upload featured him wearing an outfit inspired by Tiger King’s Joe Exotic in an animal-print top, blue jeans and a blond mullet.
He also dressed up as a woman in a hot pink top and a black leather miniskirt.

In the hilarious clip, Olly plays a man and a woman flirting with each other as he mimes: ‘Wow, you can really dance’.
The camera flicked back and forth between his two looks before his girlfriend Amelia helped him out as the two characters danced together.
Amelia then wore the black wig with the pink top and black miniskirt but was careful to conceal her face to keep the illusion it was still Ollie in the outfit.
Alongside the video, Olly wrote: ‘Think I look good in pink #isolation #dance #youcanreallydance’.
