Married At First Sight star Natasha Spencer has bravely spoken about her experience with domestic violence.

Natasha made the admission as she announced her new role as an ambassador for Purple Ribbon Australia.

The movement hopes to raise awareness of domestic violence and helps raise funds for charities that help survivors.

Natasha is also an ambassador for Survivor Watch, a special watch designed to help victims with a GPS location tracker and which can send alerts to the likes of Police during an emergency.

‘Domestic violence is a cause very close to my heart,’ Natasha told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I have seen it impact women in my life, as well as it experiencing it in two relationships.’

Natasha’s experience with domestic violence got so bad, that she took out an AVO on a former partner after reporting the matter to Police.

She said that with the coronavirus lockdown laws, there’s been a spike in cases of domestic violence, so wanted to get involved with Purple Ribbon to support the cause and help ‘raise awareness.’

In a message to victims, Natasha assured women that there is ‘light after darkness’ and people there to help.

‘You are worthy of feeling safe and loved. There are so many services available to help you and your children,’ Natasha said.

‘At times I know it seems hopeless, you’re frightened or worried about what your life will be like. There are no excuses for domestic violence, but there are solutions.’

Natasha rose to fame on this year’s season of Married At First Sight Australia.

She has been open about her experiences on the show and her mental health.

Last month, she told Daily Mail Australia that she suffered a mental breakdown and was rushed to hospital after being viciously trolled online ahead of the show’s finale.
