Kyle Sandilands roasts his celebrity friends for checking up on him after he revealed his mental health problems – and says opening up was the ‘biggest mistake’ of his life

Kyle Sandilands left fans concerned on Monday when he revealed he was feeling lonely and depressed.

And on Tuesday, the 48-year-old radio host said he regretted being so open and honest because now his famous friends won’t stop texting him.

‘Biggest mistake of my life, saying that. Every b*****d and their dog sent messages, which is very nice, but all day the phone was buzzing. It was so annoying,’ he said on The Kyle and Jackie O show.

‘I do not want it!’: On Tuesday, Kyle Sandilands said his on-air mental health revelation the ‘biggest mistake’ of his life as he roasts his celebrity friends for offering him support

‘Do not want it! God, there was so many… everyone I’ve ever known. Celebrities, news presenters, television stars, movie stars, sports stars,’ he added.

He then shared a text from retired rugby league star and fill-in KIIS FM presenter Beau Ryan as an example.

Kyle said: ‘I’m sitting there relaxing, and I open my phone, “Hey man, it’s Beau Ryan. Just wanted to say I really hope you’re OK and I’m always here for you.”‘

'I didn't bother responding': He then went on to share a text from former NRL star and fill-in host Beau Ryan as an example. The controversial radio host lambasted Beau's message for having 'Too many "bros" for a start!'

He continued reading the message: ‘”And for what it’s worth bro, I really look up to you and I’m glad that I’m on your team. Stay strong, and please take care my bro.”‘

Kyle mocked Beau’s message – saying there were ‘too many “bros” for a start’ – and confirmed he had not bothered to reply.

He acknowledged that the gesture was ‘nice’ but that didn’t like having so many people feeling sorry for him.

Kyle’s co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson also revealed she had received a slew of messages from people offering therapy and treatments.

But Kyle doubled down and vowed to keep his negative emotions to himself.

Real: Referring to his 60 Minutes interview on Sunday, he said: 'I was so able to cry... so easy because inside I'm very sad'. He said his joke about having a health condition on 60 Minutes 'wasn't the right forum' to address his depression - but clarified the tears were genuine

It comes after the radio king confessed on air on Monday that he was suffering from loneliness and depression, and that he felt ‘very sad’ and ‘let down’ by those he once considered friends.

Referring to Sunday night’s 60 Minutes interview – in which he’d cried over a mystery health condition that later turned out to be a joke – he said: ‘The truth as to why I was so able to cry, like all that breakdown stuff so easy, was because inside I’m very sad.’

‘I’m not joking. Inside my person, I’m very sad,’ he added, fighting back tears.

Kyle acknowledged his joke about having a health problem on 60 Minutes ‘wasn’t the right forum’ to address his depression – but clarified the tears were genuine.

He said: ‘Yeah, so I had to make up something was wrong, as a joke. It was real emotion… there is a great sadness in me that I just carry around. Every day.’

Sadness: He continued, 'Yeah, so I had to make up something was wrong, as a joke. It was real emotion... there is a great sadness in me that I just carry around. Every day'
