Laura Whitmore confirms her Celebrity Gogglebox stint with boyfriend Iain Stirling

A host of stars are set to take to their sofas for Celebrity Gogglebox. 

And Laura Whitmore geared up excitement for her own stint on the show on Tuesday as she took to Instagram to share a snap from her sofa. 

Posing alongside her Love Island star boyfriend Iain Stirling, 32, the Irish stunner, 35, revealed it is she who is ‘in charge of the remote’ ahead of the show. 

Laura and Iain were the picture of cosy home comforts as they sat with their Maltipoo dog Mick on their sofa for the promo picture. 

She added a caption reading: ‘New Gogglebox coming soon @channel4 (I’m in charge of the remote as you can see) #celebritygogglebox #fromlockdownwithlove’.

A new set of famous faces have been lined up for the next series of Celebrity Gogglebox UK when it returns on June 5.

As well as Laura and her beau, football boss Harry Redknapp and his beloved wife Sandra – both 73 – will be critiquing the latest TV.  

Joining them from their individual homes will also be boxer Nicola Adams and her partner Ella Baig, as well as returning couch potatoes such as Denise van Outen and her partner Eddie Boxshall and Rylan Clark-Neal and his mother Linda. 

Also said to be returning are Nicole Appleton and Melanie Blatt of All Saints. It has been claimed that both Nicole and Melanie ‘jumped at the chance’ to return to Celebrity Gogglebox.

A source told The Sun: ‘Nicole and Melanie were hilarious when they gave the show a whirl and bosses were desperate to get them back.

‘The success of Celebrity Gogglebox depends on the chemistry between the stars and how much they enjoy being a part of the show — and Nicole and Melanie just ticked all the boxes.

‘Both of them jumped at the chance to return to the show.’

Further new additions include Zoe Ball and her son Woody.

With the UK in lockdown, its thought the stars will occassionally be watching repeated shows, with Denise commenting: ‘It would be nice to see some of the iconic soap episodes. Scott and Charlene’s wedding from Neighbours especially.’

This follows the lacklustre reaction the American version of Celebrity Gogglebox received when it aired on E4 in the UK two weeks ago.

The show managed to wheel out some big household names, such as the Osbourne family, Tyra Banks, Rob Lowe and Meghan Trainor, but the rest of the line-up left viewers wondering who they were, branding their sofa-bound banter ‘painful’.

While Sharon, Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne watched scenes from Indiana Jones, RuPaul’s Drag Race and Dr Pimple Popper from the comfort of their Beverly Hills cinema room, Tyra, Rob and Meghan lounged about with family members who lacked any interesting TV critiquing skills.

The rest of the line-up included names not well known in the UK, such as Joe Buck, JoJo Siwa, Steve Wozniak, Curtis Stone, and Robert and Kym Herjavec. 

Tweets soon materialised slamming the hour-long episode, which is the first in a new series and narrated by Craig Cash of regular Gogglebox UK.

‘The USA version of gogglebox is so [bad], these celebs have 0 personality!’ one person tweeted, as another remarked: ‘An hour of my life i’ll never get back spent watching american celebrity gogglebox 0/10 would not recommend!’

Someone else posted: ‘Celebrity Gogglebox USA is cringe city!’
