Korean girl group Blackpink announce comeback, new single and full length album release in September

The megastar K-pop act, girl group Blackpink, is coming back with new songs and their first full length album later this year. 

Fans can expect a new single to be released on June 26 and an album set for release in September, their label YG Entertainment announced on Twitter earlier this month.  

Blackpink recently made an even bigger name for themselves in America as they were featured on Lady Gaga’s latest album Chromatica with the track Sour Candy, and performed at Coachella Music Festival in 2019.

A teaser poster for the group’s upcoming single was posted to the social media site on Tuesday.

A long statement by the label was posted to the social site on June 1 explaining new music plans for the group as well as solo plans for each of the four members.

‘It is because all members agreed that BLACKPINK’s comeback as an entire group and their first-ever full-length album release is more important than anything,’ the statement said. 

It also went on to say that while Jennie released her first solo single SOLO in November 2018, more solo work from the others is on the way.  

Rose’s ‘solo works have already been completed,’ and is expected to be released after the group’s album in September.

Lisa’s work is also already prepared for release, while Jisoo’s is being planned. 

According the statement their solo work will be released ‘in sequential order’ after the album release. 

The group, created in 2016, their last lead single was 2019’s Kill This Love which led their second Korean language EP of the same name. 

Kill This Love went on to peaked at number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100, being the group’s third single on the chart, and extending their record of most entries as well as longest charting single of a South Korean girl group on the chart.
