Sky Sports ‘Choose a Chant’ feature will allow viewers to play songs during live games


Sky Sports new FAN-tastic feature allows viewers to vote for which terrace song is played during live games and ‘choose a chant’ will even let them pick a tune for their favourite player

  • Broadcaster also confirmed crowd noise will be available on all 64 of their games

Fans will be able to feel like they’re in a stadium by choosing football chants during live games on Sky Sports, the broadcaster has revealed.

The added feature will be available in their Fanzone and Watchalong options for their coverage of the Premier League.

Those alternative ways to watch games will be offered to viewers on select matches out of the 64 top-flight fixtures they will show.

The ‘Choose a Chant’ feature will allow fans to vote on which songs should be played while the game is taking place with supporters having a choice from clubs’ well known chants to player-specific songs.

The Fanzone feature on Sky Sports’ website and app enables fans to watch matches with their friends over video.

The broadcaster has also confirmed crowd noise will be available on all 64 of their games.

Viewers will have the option to enhance their watch by opting for crowd or stadium and even commentary which Sky Sports has created in conjunction with EA SPORTS FIFA. 

Sky Sports managing director Rob Webster said last week: ‘With live sport on hold for over two months, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how we broadcast in new ways to bring fans together, even if they can’t meet up to watch the match.

‘Sky has always been a leader in innovative sports broadcasting, and we’re excited by this opportunity to share something really special with the whole nation. We want Sky Sports viewers to still feel it all and have the best possible viewing experience – even if they can’t be in the stadiums or watch with their family and friends.’

Artificial crowd noise and digital fans added plenty to the viewing experience as LaLiga returned to action on Thursday night. 

The Premier League restarts behind closed doors on Wednesday with Aston Villa against Sheffield United kicking off the action on Sky Sports.
