MasterChef’s Poh Ling Yeow turns fans’ stomachs

‘That looks like vomit!’ MasterChef’s Poh Ling Yeow turns fans’ stomachs with her ‘witches’ brew’ concoction

On Tuesday night’s episode of MasterChef Australia: Back To Win, Poh Ling Yeow dazzled the judges with her octopus emulsion.

The 47-year-old explained: ‘I’m going to actually try and make a rich, smoky sauce with the octopus.

‘I’m going to char it, I’m gonna blend it, and I’m just gonna slow roast it in a frying pan, which is like a Chinese technique, and just get that flavour really concentrated’.

Poh went on to explain that judges Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen loved the idea, calling it ‘unreal’.

‘Jock and Andy are really intrigued by this idea of an octopus emulsion. So it’s putting a lot of pressure on me to pull this off now,’ she said.

Fans at home, however, were less enthused by what they saw when the emulsion was being made.

At one point, it looked like pink sludge all over Poh’s hands – although the end result was quite appealing.
