Inside Tones and I’s $5.1million home in Mount Eliza, Melbourne

The house that Dance Monkey built: Take a look inside Tones and I’s $5.1million Melbourne home with its own custom-built basketball court

She went from busking on the streets of Byron Bay to topping the charts around the world last year.

And on Friday, Tones and I offered fans a rare glimpse inside her $5.1million home in the upmarket Melbourne suburb of Mount Eliza.

The 26-year-old singer, whose real name is Toni Watson, revealed in a YouTube video that she’d had a basketball court installed after buying the property in April 2019.

In the behind-the-scenes clip, Tones’ home was transformed into a music video set because COVID-19 restrictions wouldn’t allow her to film one otherwise.

The Dance Monkey hitmaker’s five-bedroom double-storey home is also more than twice as energy efficient compared to official recommendations.

The luxury home has 2,500 square metres of land, American oak floors and Italian glass doors.

The open plan kitchen was the perfect place for Tones’ hairstylists and makeup team to style her many characters for the music video.

Her house is located in one of the area’s most expensive streets, which has seen other properties sell for more than $8million.

Since the property was built in 2014, satellite images show it has had several additions, including a swimming pool and the basketball court.

In the YouTube clip, Tones and I also revealed her collection of platinum-certified records and ARIA Awards.

It seems a world away from the artist’s humble beginnings, as she was busking in Byron Bay and living in her van just two years ago.

Tones and I’s breakout single, Dance Monkey, reached number one in more than 30 countries last year, and placed second in Triple J’s Hottest 100.
