Speaking to HuffPost Australia, the 26-year-old said that when it comes to his favourite filling, ‘you can’t go past the pork and prawn’.

But when it comes to making the best dumplings, Brendan claims the secret is to get creative.

‘The great thing about dumplings is just to have fun and fill it with anything that you can think of,’ he said.

‘Any leftovers, just experiment with it and maybe taste the filling and try before actually folding the dumpling and cooking it.’

On his website, Brendan revealed that he discovered his passion for dumplings when his grandma taught him how to ‘prepare dumplings (wontons) from scratch,’ as a child.

Brendan, who is from a Chinese-Mauritian background, decided to open his own dumpling kitchen in Perth called ‘Bumplings’ to showcase his heritage.

And while Brendan has certainly earned his place as the ‘Dumpling King’, he insists that his grandmother’s are still the best.
