Bachelor in Paradise fans RAGE against Abbie Chatfield’s ‘villain’ edit during the premiere and slam co-stars ‘shaming’ her for owning her sexuality

Bachelor in Paradise fans are sticking up for so-called ‘villain’ Abbie Chatfield.

The 25-year-old was trending on Twitter during Wednesday’s premiere as viewers raged against the ‘sl*t-shaming’ she was being subjected to by some of her co-stars.

‘God forbid a woman actually owns her sexuality and goes after what she wants,’ one furious viewer tweeted, as others expressed disappointment over her edit.

‘God forbid a woman actually owns her sexuality’: Abbie Chatfield (right, with Helena Sauzier) was trending on Twitter during Wednesday’s premiere as viewers raged against the ‘sl*t-shaming’ she was being subjected to by some of her Bachelor in Paradise co-stars

Some of the female contestants took an almost immediate dislike to having Abbie as a rival, especially Mary Viturino and Cassandra Mamone.

Abbie had her sights set solely on Ciarran Stott, and her tunnel vision made several of the other women uncomfortable.

‘Hey guys, so we agree no sl*t-shaming Abbie this series, because she’s a gorgeous, funny woman who’s confident and that’s not a bad thing?’ one supporter tweeted.

Another added: ‘Why would Channel 10 edit Abbie the villain again when people like her and know she is not the villain?’

'We're not going to sl*t-shame Abbie again!' Fans refused to accept Abbie's edit, defending her as 'a gorgeous, funny woman who's confident'

During the premiere, both Cassandra and Mary said Abbie ‘gets what she wants’ and even suggested she would ‘put her boobs out’ in her pursuit of Ciarran.

But one Twitter user pointed out that ‘Abbie generally gets what she wants’ was a particularly bold statement given that she was brutally rejected by Matt Agnew on The Bachelor last year.

Another tweeted: ‘The way the other girls STILL go so hard on sl*t-shaming Abbie as if it doesn’t require two people to make out? Where was this energy for Matt and where is it now for Ciarran?’

A third fan added: ‘Somebody tell Mary that hating on Abbie is so last year.’

Following the public backlash, Mary apologised on Instagram for suggesting that Abbie was being too sexually forward.

‘I’m going to hear the people’s voice,’ she said. ‘Sorry Abbie if I was nasty to you. I don’t hate you, you know. We are different.

‘I hope you are doing well, and I hope you forgive me. It’s not personal. I think I just run my mouth when I’m on the show’s camera and I get too excited. I have no filter.’

‘If you ever need someone to talk to on a tough day, I’m here,’ she concluded.
