Little Mix surprise three superfans and their dads with Zoom call

Earlier this year, four caring fathers went viral when they impersonated Little Mix to cheer up their superfan kids following the hitmakers’ cancelled concert.

And on Wednesday, it wasn’t just the dads delighting their children as the girl band surprised Ethel, Rose and Riley and their dads by appearing via Zoom call on Jamie Theakston & Lucy Horobin’s Heart FM show.

Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock gave the dads the stamp of approval with their viral impression of the girls, which they dubbed ‘Little Dads Mix’ and performed from their respective homes.

Yay! On Wednesday, Little Mix surprised superfans Ethel, Rose and Riley and their dads by appearing via Zoom call on Jamie Theakston & Lucy Horobin’s Heart FM show after the dads went viral with an impression of the group in lockdown

Appearing on the call first was Andy Moody, Matt Clarkson, Dan La Borde and Simon Harvey from Cornwall alongside their kids, before the girls arrived to their delight.

While introducing them, Jamie said: ‘This story really made my heart sing last week. Four dads whose kids were devastated after a Little Mix concert was cancelled, dressed up as the group and recreated the show for them. Morning dads!

Andy detailed: ‘It was a joint effort, when we realised it was cancelled, as a joke, I photoshopped our faces onto a picture and sent it to our group chat. I think it was Simon’s other half, Helen, that actually said “Let’s do this”. We all kind of ran with it.’

While the kids praised their dad, they were left in shock when the pop star foursome arrived on the screen, as Jesy opened by branding the impression ‘brilliant’.

She said: ‘I thought it was brilliant! I felt like they were better than us!’

When asked about her thoughts on Matthew’s interpretation of Perrie, she responded: ‘Ohh Matt don’t you worry, you did me justice.

Riley then said to Perrie: ‘It was really disappointing when we couldn’t see you, because it was cancelled by Covid-19’, before she agreed: ‘I know, we were so sad’.

She then joked: ‘Yeah, we’ll be back soon, then if we’re feeling a little run down, I’m giving Matt a blonde wig and he can do a shift for me’.

Work it! She said: 'I thought it was brilliant! I felt like they were better than us!'

Jamie asked Perrie: ‘How has it been Perrie, because obviously those girls aren’t the only ones who have missed out on seeing you. How has it been not being able to perform during lockdown?’

She lamented: ‘It’s actually awful. I think as performers, what we love doing the most is performing, and we love putting on a show, we love seeing our fans…

‘It’s like the thing we look forward to, so the fact that it was all cancelled was like, “Urgh what the heck”. But we’re going to do it obviously next year. So, we can’t wait for it to come around as quickly as possible. Get us on that stage. Literally.’

So sad: Riley then said to Perrie: 'It was really disappointing when we couldn’t see you, because it was cancelled by Covid-19', before she agreed: 'I know, we were so sad'

When asked if they have a date in sight for their return, Perrie said: ‘No, we don’t know yet. We just definitely know that we want to obviously reschedule it. Because touring is just everything to us, we love it so much. So we’ll make it work.’

Elsewhere they discussed Leigh-Anne’s wedding plans after she became engaged last month to her footballer beau Andre Gray.

She said: ‘Yeah, obviously it’s quite hard with the current situation, but at the same time it’s not for a couple of years anyway so I’ve got time. I’ve given myself time to plan it. But I mean, bridezilla all the way. [Jamie laughs] I need to calm down a bit.’

Tune into Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Lucy Horobin (in for Amanda Holden) weekdays from 06:30 – 10:00
