Delta Goodrem hits out at accusations The Voice was ‘rigged’ after Chris Sebastian’s win

Delta Goodrem has fought back against accusations that this year’s season of The Voice was rigged after Chris Sebastian was crowned the winner.

The 31-year-old singer is the younger brother of fellow Voice coach Guy Sebastian, but Delta maintains their connection had no bearing on the end result.  

‘Listen, if my brother wins The Voice, then maybe we’ve got a problem. Then we should question it, but not when you’ve got a talent like Chris,’ the 35-year-old told News.com.au on Thursday.

Delta said all Chris could do now was move forward with his music career and prove the naysayers wrong.  

‘You can’t look sideways. This is a new and wonderful chapter for Chris – to be signed to a label and to be able to pursue his dream,’ she added. 

‘We’re all very happy for him. He sung beautifully throughout the whole show – there’s not much more to say.’ 

Chris was crowned the show’s winner on Sunday night, taking home the $100,000 cash prize and a record contract with EMI.

But many viewers were left outraged, branding the show ‘rigged’ and ‘unfair’ because of his connection to Guy, 38.

‘The Voice has just lost its credibility,’ one fan tweeted, as others questioned why Chris had been allowed to audition in the first place. 

On Monday, Chris – who was on Kelly Rowland’s team – responded to the backlash on The Kyle and Jackie O Show. 

‘I knew it was coming but I weighed up the risks,’ he said of the allegations of favouritism.

‘I was like, “Look, this isn’t even about me anymore.” I’ve got a family to provide for. I’ve been wanting to do this my whole life.’
