Amber Riley posts touching tribute to Naya Rivera two weeks after Glee star’s drowning death

It’s been two weeks since Naya Rivera died in an accidental drowning while on an outing at a California lake with her four-year-old son.

But her Glee co-stars continue publicly to mourn her loss.

On Thursday, Amber Riley penned a lengthy tribute which she posted to her Instagram alongside several photos of herself and Naya performing duets together.

Amber, 34, wrote: ‘I’m so mad the world will never see how high you could have soared.’

She said of Naya: ‘Her brain was brilliant. She was smart and as quick as a whip. Always had me in stitches, we would be in tears laughing so hard at one another.’

‘There was never competition, or shade, or intimidation with us. Just pure adoration and mutual respect…. You were so much more than just this show. Your talent outshined us all so many times!’

Amber shared that she has ‘cried until my tear ducts have dried out’ and celebrates that she got ‘to experience walking through life with an earth angel.’

‘I say your name everyday and hold you in my heart,’ the actress and singer said, adding: ‘Just like I do Cory.’

Glee star Cory Monteith passed away in July 2013 in a hotel room in Vancouver, B.C., as a result of an accidental overdose of heroin and alcohol.

Earlier this week, another Glee star Heather Morris also shared that she is still mourning the loss of her co-star and close friend.

‘Grieving looks very differently on everyone…but one things for certain: I’ve felt it’s hard to feel joy or keep busy when mourning without thinking that you’re not honoring that person or you’re forgetting about them,’ Morris wrote alongside a video showing her dancing in her garden to a song by Naya.

‘But @hubbell_woodshop reminded me that honoring someone can mean you’re enjoying your life FOR them….’ she said.

Morris went on: ‘I made it to 1M followers in these last few weeks and at first I was resentful because I gained them from a tragedy, but after giving it a breath..

‘I realized you all have just surrounded me with love and support. That I just see you angels wrapping your wings around me.’

Naya, who starred as Santana on the popular TV show that ran from 2009 to 2015, went missing on July 8 at Lake Piru, to the north of Los Angeles.

She had gone boating with her son Josey, four, who was found alone on a pontoon boat on the lake.

After a five-day search, her body was recovered from the water  and an autopsy concluded that her death was by drowning and that it had been an accident.

According to local law enforcement, the actress had propelled her son onto the boat after they went for a swim but failed to get out of the water herself.
