Kylie Minogue recalls her 2018 reunion performance with Jason Donovan in Hyde Park 

Kylie Minogue’s 2018 reunion with Neighbours co-star and ex-boyfriend Jason Donovan had fans of the duo in tears.

And on Friday, the Australian-born pop diva, 52, recalled the special moment, which was part of her performance for BBC Radio 2’s Live in London’s Hyde Park.

She explained to Nova FM’s Fitzy and Wippa that she had only texted Jason about doing a reunion a day or two prior to the show. 

‘He said he had a lot on and if he was going to come it would just be him on his bike, I said, “sure, let me know.” 

Kylie continued: ‘So then he told me he was going to come, I let my team know, and of course you should see the light bulbs go off on all of them “did you ask him?!” 

‘I said, “I’m not going to ask him now, he’s cycling in.”

Speaking about the day of the show, Kylie said: ‘So I said to him [Jason] “We’re doing the song anyway, do you want to join in? You can say no, you can just do a little bit whatever you want to do.” Bless him, he did it.’

On the day, fans saw Jason join Kylie midway through their song hit song Especially For You, singing and dancing together.

The sweet and brief reunion was met with plenty of emotion from fans of the former Neighbours stars, who starred as Scott Robinson and Charlene Mitchell from 1986 to 1988.

Kylie said: ‘Afterwards, I had grown, good friends of mine calling me crying.’ 

The pair are two of the most iconic characters from Neighbours, both leaving the show to pursue successful pop careers.

But their friendship spans back to when they were just 11-years-old when they starred as siblings briefly in another Australian show, Skyways.

The pair also dated in real-life; and despite not lasting the course, they always remained close friends.

Kylie is currently dating creative director for British GQ Paul Solomons, 46.   

The pair were first introduced through mutual friends in February 2018, and they then confirmed their romance in April of that year. 

Meanwhile, Jason is a doting father to three children Neighbours actress Jemma 20, Zac, 19, and nine-year-old Molly, whom he shares with his wife Angela Malloch.
