Elsa Pataky escapes through a car window in flooded Byron Bay street

Chris Hemsworth’s wife Elsa Pataky escapes through a car window with her children after driving into a flooded road in Byron Bay

Chris Hemsworth’s wife, Elsa Pataky, was unprepared for the rain bomb that hit Byron Bay and other parts of New South Wales this week.

The 44-year-old Spanish actress, who has lived in the coastal town since 2014, found herself stuck when she tried to drive through a flooded roadway on Monday.

As the situation escalated, the mother of three had no choice but to escape through a passenger window and abandon the vehicle.

She was joined on the ill-fated road trip by her children and friend Luke Zocchi, who is her husband’s longtime personal trainer.

Despite the perilous situation, Elsa managed to stay positive as she documented her escape on Instagram, where she has more than 3.8 million followers.

The Fast and the Furious star shared a video from the driver’s seat which showed the murky water surrounding the car.

‘A bit too optimistic? I was so sure I could cross,’ she captioned the clip in Spanish and English, before adding: ‘Help me!’

Elsa followed this up with another video in which she could be heard saying: ‘I got stuck. Awesome. Oh god, oh god what am I doing.’

She then uploaded a video of herself clambering out window then wading through the water to safety, adding: ‘My only option… through the window.’

A final video showed Luke and several other men preparing to tow the vehicle away.

The footage was most likely recorded in Byron Bay, where the Hemsworths own a $20million mansion and which has been hit by heavy rain recently.

Chris and Elsa recently returned from a holiday in Rainbow Beach, Queensland, with their three children, daughter India, seven, and twin sons Sasha and Tristan, six.
