Quirky £1.2m two-bed apartment has pool that takes up entire bottom floor

An unusual two-bedroom apartment which features a swimming pool across the entire bottom floor has gone on the market for £1.2million.

The ‘one of a kind’ flat, nestled inside a terrace in Finsbury Park, North London, has a living room with a glass panel looking directly over the ‘luxury’ private pool, which takes up a large portion of the basement level.

The split-level property also features its own sauna, with a seating area in place near the lido for swimmers to relax in after going for a dip.

The bottom floor also has a bathroom, with a shower, and its own fully decked out kitchenette.

Upstairs, via a spiral staircase, the property has two bedrooms, a shower room, a sleek kitchen, another living area and a small patio.

The property, listed by Northview estate agents, sits in a typical London terrace next to a Chinese takeaway in the busy neighbourhood.

It was initially placed on the market for £1million, before the owners bumped the price by £200,000 amid the large amount of social media attention the flat gained.

Northview described the unusual property as a ‘luxury two double bedroom flat with a private swimming pool.’

Alice Beverton-Palmer said: ‘A two-bed flat in Holloway with a swimming pool is indeed one of a kind. None of it makes any sense.

‘There’s also a sitting room above with chairs arranged round a window that looks down on the pool.’

She added: ‘I need to know the lunatic who built this and the story behind it.’

Others questioned how you could swim in the small pool, while others worried about the smell of chlorine.

‘I’m a daily swimmer, wondering how you would actually swim in that,’ Diana Taylor said.

Grant Robson joked: ‘This is like someone really built what my daughters make on Minecraft.’
