The Bachelor: Zoe-Clare’s father’s hilarious reaction to ‘ranga-gate’

The Bachelor star Zoe-Clare McDonald shares her father’s hilarious (and VERY Aussie) reaction to her ‘ranga-gate’ meltdown

During the first cocktail party on The Bachelor, Zoe-Clare McDonald threw a tantrum about being an ‘oppressed ranga’, called Areeba Emmanuel a ‘moll’ and skipped the rose ceremony because she was ‘ill’.

And on Thursday, the flame-haired 23-year-old revealed what her father thought about the viral meltdown, which has become known as ‘ranga-gate’.

Zoe-Clare shared her father’s hilarious reaction while speaking on The Kyle and Jackie O Show – and it’s about as Aussie as you can get.

Zoe-Clare said her father had called her after the episode went to air and said:  ‘I didn’t raise you to be weak on the piss!’

As radio hosts Jackie ‘O’ Henderson and Kyle Sandilands burst into laughter, she added: ‘I was like, “Dad I wasn’t drunk…”‘

Kyle could barely believe Zoe-Clare’s father’s priceless reaction to the most-talked about moment of The Bachelor so far this season.

Straight-talking dad: Zoe-Clare said her father had called her after the episode went to air and said, 'I didn't raise you to be weak on the piss!' (She later clarified that she had not, in fact, been drunk at the cocktail party)

‘Is that what your dad said? I love that your dad said that,’ he said.

Despite the champagne freely flowing at the party, Zoe-Clare insisted she’d only had ‘two drinks’ and blamed the outburst on ‘medication’ she was taking.

‘My emotions were heightened because I was quite ill,’ she explained.

During The Bachelor premiere, which aired on August 12, Zoe-Clare had a meltdown after fellow contestant Areeba interrupted her chat with Locky Gilbert.

She claimed she was being ‘oppressed’ because of her hair colour.

‘I’m the only redhead in the whole entire house… The only colours are blonde or brunette, and then there’s me. I think that’s exactly why Areeba is targeting me. It’s the red hair. It’s just… it’s not appropriate,’ she said.

Her rant left viewers baffled because nobody had mentioned the colour of her hair on the show.

The Bachelor continues Thursday at 7:30pm on Channel 10
