Becky Miles finally admits she dumped boyfriend for The Bachelorette

New Bachelorette Becky Miles has confirmed rumours that she broke up with her ex-boyfriend to take part in the Channel 10 dating show.

For weeks, the defence contracting specialist, 30, had dodged questions about her relationship status before filming began in late July.

But she admitted on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday that she had in fact been ‘seeing someone for a short period of time’ when producers came knocking.

The truth: New Bachelorette Becky Miles (left, with her sister Elly) has finally confirmed rumours that she broke up with her ex-boyfriend to take part in the Channel 10 dating show

‘Were you single when they approached you? Or did you have to ditch someone?’ asked radio host Kyle Sandilands.

Becky and her sister, Elly, who is also joining her on The Bachelorette, both laughed awkwardly at the question.

‘If I was in a relationship, I definitely wouldn’t have gone on the show…’ Becky said, choosing her words very carefully.

But when pressed for an answer, she acknowledged that she’d been dating someone when she was offered The Bachelorette – but insisted it wasn’t anything serious.

‘I was single, but I was seeing someone for a short period of time there,’ she said.

‘Just a bang buddy?’ asked Kyle, to which Becky responded: ‘Yeah.’

She insisted that they ended things on ‘really good terms’, however, adding: ‘I was as honest as I could [be] with him.’

An incredulous Kyle asked: ‘What did you say? “Look, it’s been great rooting you, but I’m going on TV with 30 other blokes.’

Becky replied: ‘I said to him, “There’s this opportunity that’s come up with Elly for me. It’s a TV thing, a dating thing. Just to be clear with you, this is what I want to do.”‘

Back in August, radio host Ed Kavalee broke the news that Becky had ended a relationship in order to appear on the show.

‘The person that she was with found out she was doing this show from the press,’ he said on the Hughesy and Ed radio program.

His co-host Dave Hughes asked: ‘He thought he was in a relationship with the older sister and he’s found out that he’s no longer in a relationship with her when he saw the press release that she was on The Bachelorette?’

‘Yes,’ Ed said, before claiming he’d heard the story from ‘people deep in reality TV’.

‘Elly got in first. It’s then been brought up, “What about the sister? Let’s try.” So then behind the scenes, she [Becky] gets across the line and then goes [to her boyfriend], “You’re out!”‘

The Bachelorette was filmed in Sydney from July 29 to September 7.

Both sisters have confirmed they picked a winner, but Becky said on the Life Uncut podcast earlier this week that she wasn’t in love.

Elly, on the other hand, insisted she was ‘smitten’ with her chosen suitor.

This year’s season marks the first time The Bachelorette has featured two sisters.
