Boy, seven, dies suddenly at school after suffering a ‘short illness’ as parents pay tribute to their ‘happy, healthy and beautiful’ son

A seven-year-old boy has died suddenly at school after suffering a short illness.
Patryk Milner, from Sandbach, Cheshire, died last Thursday after he was taken ill at school and airlifted to Leighton Hospital in Crewe before being transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool where he passed away.
Patryk was a member of Sandbach RUFC’s under-8s side and his parents, Andy and Aggie were both well-known figures at the rugby club.
His father, Andy, said: ‘He was a sporty, beautiful, healthy boy who loved rugby at Sandbach RUFC and karate, swimming, golf cycling, rollerblading – everything. He was about to start football at Sandbach United.

‘He liked eating out and adored dogs and he wanted to be a vet.
‘Thank you to everyone for their flowers, cards, kind words and comments on social media especially the Sandbach RUFC family.
‘This is helping us tackle this unbelievable tragedy.’
A statement from his school, Offley Primary Academy, read: ‘The school community are devastated by the death of Patryk, it has rocked us all deeply.

‘He was such a happy, healthy, beautiful boy from a supportive loving family who are the heartbeat of the Sandbach community.
‘The circumstances are tragic, he came to school on Wednesday a happy healthy boy and did not return home. We will now ensure that we put our arms around the family and support them with all of our love.
‘We will do all that we can to support Patryk’s friends and our community through this awful time.’

Club chairman Rob Mayor wrote in a statement: ‘Patryk will be well known to all of you who have seen him around the club, with his sister Krissy, almost since he was born. We will never forget the image of his bright and energetic face.
‘Patryk suffered a short and sudden illness while at school. Many people; teachers, first-responders, air ambulance staff, doctors, and nurses did all that was humanly possible to help but, ultimately, their efforts were in vain. A dark cloud will hang over both the club and school for a very long time.
‘Our hearts go out to the family and, as a club, we will do everything that we can to support them both now and in the future.’
