Glenn Close transforms back into Cruella De Vil two decades after 101 Dalmatians

Two decades after starring in 1996’s live-action remake of 101 Dalmatians, Glenn Close stunned fans by transforming herself back into the villainous fashion designer.

Close, 73, replicated the nefarious heiress’ distinctive look for Bette Midler’s virtual Halloween fundraiser, taking a do-it-yourself approach by snagging a wig off the internet and using a ‘painted red’ chopstick as a cigarette holder.

Under the pictures of her homemade Cruella De Vil costume, the Academy Award nominee revealed that her furry black coat was a part of her wardrobe from her 2017 film, The Wife.

Additionally, she picked up a pair of floppy Dalmatian ears at a local Halloween store and joked that a few of her makeup substitutions looked ‘weird’ from certain angles.

In lieu of ‘a really pale base,’ Close attempted to use baby powder, which she quipped was ‘not a rousing success’ on Monday night.

‘Also needed a liquid eyeliner…next time,’ she noted, while looking like a dead ringer for the Disney villain, who famously sought to use the skins of 99 Dalmatian puppies to create a fur coat.

In her social media photos, shot by Seonaid ‘Sho’ Campbell, the star can be seen sporting her character’s signature half black, half white hairdo and silk scarf.

While posing up a storm with her makeshift red cigarette holder, she gave her more than 405,000 Instagram followers a glimpse of her red gloves with cut off tips.

As she flashed her long black nails, Close smoldered at the camera and left her mouth slightly agape.

In an additional boomarang video, the three-time Golden Globe winner held up her  cigarette holder and looked up dramatically.

Based on 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians, the film is set in the English capital in the 1970s.

Disney’s Cruella will tell the story of a wealthy fashion designer, who develops a penchant for Dalmatian skin and aims to turn 99 Dalmatian puppies into a fur coat.

Last year, Stone revealed her storyline comes in to play during Cruella’s younger years – before Close’s portrayal in the 1996 version of 101 Dalmatians.

‘It’s pretty trippy. It’s wild,’ she said of her role in the movie before adding she walks around set thinking ‘this is bananas.’

When asked about iconic actress Glenn, she added to to Entertainment Tonight: ‘I think she’s obviously the GOAT (greatest of all time), but I also have just loved the cartoon for a really long time.’

The reboot is also set to star the likes of Emma Thompson as Baroness and Paul Walter Hauser as Horace, as well as Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Emily Beecham.
