Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood has postponed his wedding to fiancé Jonathan Myring

Craig Revel Horwood has revealed he is postponing his wedding to fiance Jonathan Myring, 35, by two years.

The Strictly Come Dancing judge, 55, announced his decision to The Daily Mail on Thursday, saying he wanted to avoid a small COVID wedding in favour of a huge bash with lots of guests.

Of the change of nuptial plans, he explained: ‘I want it to be big and fun, not a COVID wedding with five people there.

On hold: Strictly Come Dancing’s Craig Revel Horwood revealed on Wednesday that he has postponed his nuptials to fiancé Jonathan Myring as he doesn’t want a COVID wedding

‘It’ll take a couple of years to plan it, but we’re not in a rush.’

The happy couple got engaged in March after his husband-to-be proposed during a trip to Tasmania, and Craig added: ‘Then I’d love to jet off to the Maldives, then perhaps return to Tasmania on our honeymoon.’

Going on to talk about the possibility of having a family with Jonathan, he went on: ‘I’m not ruling out kids, but I’m 55 and I’ll be 56 in January.

‘I’m getting a bit long in the tooth. Having said that, Elton John managed it, so why not? Never say never.’

In April, Craig revealed they were engaged and admitted he can’t wait for the couple to spend ‘the rest of their lives together.’

The pair, who started dating in 2018, are now planning their wedding after the horticulturalist surprised Craig by proposing during trip to Tasmania in March.

And speaking to the latest issue of OK!, Craig said he’s finally found his soulmate in Jonathan: ‘There’s such comfort in knowing you have somebody that loves you and wants to spend the rest of their life with you.

‘I feel like I have someone who has my back and I’ve got theirs.’

Reflecting on Jonathan’s proposal, the straight talking Strictly star admitted his partner got down on one knee as they took a dip in a salt bath while holidaying in Australia.

‘I said, ‘Absolutely not!’ he joked. ‘And then I said, ‘Oh, alright then, I’ve changed my mind.’

‘I thought it was really sweet, actually, because Jonathan just said, ‘I want to spend the rest of my life with you.’

‘It was absolutely perfect. I would much rather be in a bubble bath with champagne than climbing up a mountain to a waterfall anyway.’

The couple live together in Craig’s sprawling Hampshire mansion.

Craig was previously married to wife Jane for two and a half years; the former couple exchanged vows in 1990 when he was 25 and she was 30.

But he recently admitted the marriage collapsed after he caught her in bed with another man.

‘Time was ticking. She wanted to have children and I thought, “Well, this is a really good opportunity,”‘ he told the Daily Mail in 2019. ‘I was both gay and straight, so being bisexual, it wasn’t a big issue for me or her.

‘We were two people who loved each other, coming together and wanting to have kids before it was too late. But then it ended in adultery. That was after two-and-a-half years.

‘When you find someone in bed with someone else and they say they are in love with them, that puts a dampener on it.’

Three decades on, the choreographer and dancer, who has been a judge on Strictly Come Dancing since its start in 2004, says he and his ex-wife remain close friends.

‘She runs my website. We go on holidays together. She’s remarried and she’s got a son. She sort of got everything she wanted in the end.’
