Inside The Block host Scott Cam’s $2.2M Port Melbourne home

Host Scott Cam may have surprised some viewers of The Block on Sunday night, when he gave Jimmy and Tam a tour of his Art Deco home in Port Melbourne, he secretly bought for $2.2 million in 2017.

The three-bedroom home is particularly unique in that it was renovated by contestants of the 2016 season as part of a group challenge.

Located inside the former J. Kitchen & Sons Art Deco soap factory, the property boasts a luxurious butler’s pantry, a kitchen for entertaining and an outdoor patio.

The living area and bedrooms feature timber floors, a clean white colour palette and statement art on the walls.

Soft furnishings in the form of white drapes and a tan leather couch also add a homely feel to the contemporary design.

A spacious kitchen that leads out onto a stunning patio, also boasts a granite island bench that is illuminated underneath.

Perfect for inviting guests over, there is also a luxurious butler’s pantry.

Bathrooms take on a monochrome aesthetic with white tiled walls and black accents, while the hallway is simple yet chic with timber floors, pendant lighting and statement art.

The apartment, which was built as part of a challenge on the 2016 show, wasn’t auctioned off during The Block’s finale, but rather was placed on the market after the show had wrapped.

Scott told 9Entertainment this week that an advantage of purchasing the home is that it already came with all the bells and whistles.

‘It’s “turn key and walk in”, I didn’t have to buy any furniture or artwork or anything. Even plates — they have plates there, and knives and forks,’ the 57-year-old said.

The Channel Nine star also told The Herald Sun that it was a ‘no-brainer’ in buying the property.

‘When it became available I said “yes” and went to the bank and said can I borrow some money, I want to buy one of these things,’ he explained last month.

‘To me it is a no-brainer buying a Block house.’

Scott boasts an impressive property portfolio, including a lavish $6.5million trophy home in Sydney’s exclusive suburb of Vaucluse.

He purchased the Mediterranean-style mansion for $4.6million in 2012, and it is now believed to be worth at least $6million.

The property has become the perfect family home for Scott, his wife Ann Cam and their three children, Sarah, Charlie and Bill.

Other properties include a $2million renovated home in Rosebery, a coastal residence at Narrawallee on the NSW South Coast and a property at a farm near Mudgee.
