‘I thought it was Twiggy!’ Janet Street Porter, 73, looks unrecognisable in glamorous throwback modelling shot from 1969 on Loose Women

Janet Street Porter looked unrecognisable in a throwback snap from a modelling shoot shown on Tuesday’s episode of Loose Women.

The presenter, 73, was a dead ringer for Twiggy in the black and white snap that was taken when Janet did a modelling job back in 1969.

In the picture Janet looked glamorous in a black and white vinyl dress as she rocked  a short cropped do with a side parting and was made up with heavy eyeliner and lashes.

The picture was shown during a chat will fellow panelists Saira Khan, 50, and Kelle Bryan, 45, about embracing grey hair as you get older.

The presenters were clearly shocked at the very different look as Saira commented: ‘What is that you Janet? I thought it was Twiggy!’

Janet responded by saying: ‘Yeah that’s me in 1969 modelling. The guy Lennard who cut Twiggy’s hair, did my hair.’

Kelle also chipped in to say: ‘Wow Janet’ before Saira added: ‘You are gorgeous!’

Twiggy made waves in the sixties with her iconic black and white modelling shots were she rocked a short do with a side parting.

Earlier this year Janet revealed she was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma after a trip to Australia, initially thinking the spot on her nose was an insect bite.

She was shocked to discover it was cancer because she is ‘militant’ about sun protection, and ‘always’ uses factor 50 sun cream.

The presenter had an appointment booked to remove the cancer three days before Britain went into lockdown in March.

However the operation was delayed and she admitted how she became ‘more and more anxious’ about the carcinoma.

Back in June she appeared on This Morning with a large plaster across her nose after having a skin cancer growth removed.

She smiled as she reassured the show’s hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that although her bandage looked ‘frightening’ she was ‘fine’.

She explained how she had finally had the procedure after having to wait four months due to the coronavirus lockdown delaying her appointment.

Janet said: ‘I had a small basal cell carcinoma, a skin cancer growth, taken off my nose a week ago.

‘I’m going to be lifting the plaster off and talking about it on Loose Women on Wednesday but I’m fine.’
