SAS Australia star Shannan Ponton (pictured) has had one of his many tattoos fixed after an embarrassing mistake went undetected for years… but can YOU spot it?

Shannan’s muscular arms and legs have intricate Maori patterns with tribal-style designs and elements.

However, it was an error with his Southern Cross design on one of his arms that he was most thankful to get rid of.

‘That star… on the wrong side of the Southern Cross… look closely. Thankfully disappeared! Not too many ever noticed that!’ Shannan captioned one photo.

A fan also commented that his large stars had eight points, instead of the accurate seven, to which Shannan said: ‘well spotted!’

‘Thanks for those of you watching @sasaust7 with a sharp eye, my tattoo has changed a bit since TBL. Thanks to @vanishinginktattooremoval nothing is forever.’

‘That heavy black bit was a cover up of a cover up! Super heavy ink. It was faded enough after five treatments to cover up…again! No scarring and minimal pain.’

In 2014, Shannan addressed his tattoos in an interview with People, explaining that each ‘held a special meaning’ to him.

‘My tattoos all have meanings, and stem back to when I was a builder and I worked with many Maori guys. I developed a real respect for the Maori culture and their philosophy on life,’ he said.
