In November 2019, she revealed on the podcast Lemonade that she has never really come to terms with the fact her mother’s cancer was life-threatening.

‘Sometimes I wish that I had understood it more, because the fact that I didn’t meant that the grieving period was probably a lot later than it otherwise would have been,’ she said.

She added that ‘nothing felt real’ during that period in her life, including the death of her mother, due to the experience of filming The Bachelorette.
