The Bachelorette’s ratings continue to tank as a former Channel 10 boss blames the show’s disastrous figures on ‘viewer fatigue’ and ‘bad casting’

The Bachelorette continues to flop in the ratings, after hitting an all-time low last week.

On Wednesday, 487,000 metro viewers tuned in to watch sisters Elly and Becky Miles flirt up a storm on go on dates with eligible men.

The dating series managed to just beat The Project, which drew in an audience of 483,000.

However, The Bachelorette was beaten by Channel Nine’s The Block with 762,000 viewers, as well as ABC’s Hard Quiz with an audience of 688,000, airing at 8pm.

Fortunately, the series managed a win over Channel 7, after the network aired a repeat episode of Highway Patrol with just 397,000 viewers tuning in.

Last week, The Bachelorette notched up a paltry 464,000 viewers – a record low since the spinoff began in 2015.

Former Studio 10 executive producer Rob McKnight told The Daily Telegraph on Thursday that the ratings setback for The Bachelorette is something that would cause the network concern.

‘To me it’s a mixture of viewer fatigue with three Bachelor franchises back-to-back and just bad casting,’ he said.

‘While the idea of two sisters is an interesting take, these two young ladies just don’t have the appeal of others we’ve seen in the role,’ he said.

Aside from The Bachelorette, Junior MasterChef has also proven to be a ratings bust for the network and their bosses in the US.

‘They’ve had some early success at the right time, but now the cracks are beginning to show,’ Rob added.

While it may have poor overnight ratings, The Bachelorette remains a top three show on Channel 10’s on-demand streaming service, 10 Play.
