‘It was really cool getting to know her,’ Jackson said, adding he saw her for ‘face value’ and not for her infamous past.

The professional poker player said Schapelle was ‘so awesome’ on the course, always gave everything a go, and was supportive of the entire team of celebrity recruits.

In a post on Instagram after her exit, she spoke about how her life has changed for the better following the series.

‘Although I wasn’t in the course for long, I do feel like I’ve accomplished whatever it was I was searching for – I’m already feeling more productive in my every day life.

‘I would like to thank you all for your support, postivity [sic], encouragement. I’m loving reading all my msg’s.’

The convicted drug smuggler added: ‘But I am proud of myself for giving it a go. Thanks everyone for watching.’

Schapelle elected to leave the challenging series during a punishing running exercise, and said she simply ‘could not run one more step’.
