John Legend shares excitement over Joe Biden winning presidency and performs Wild on NBC talk show

John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen have been celebrating Joe Biden’s win as president this week, the singer said Monday on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

‘We’re very, very excited that Joe Biden is the president-elect of the country,’ the 41-year-old EGOT winner affirmed. ‘We need someone with his leadership skills, his empathy, his intelligence, his team. We think it’s going to be much better for the country.’

The night before the election, the couple had gone to Pennsylvania to promote Biden, hoping to affect voter turnout in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas.

John said that he and his family subsequently took part in an event celebrating Biden’s win, noting that as soon as they heard the news, they headed to West Hollywood, where there was ‘an impromptu dance party happening.’

In a video of the event, John and Chrissy shouted ‘Yay!’ and danced through their car’s sunroof as cheering residents of the neighborhood surrounded them.

Seth asked John how things were going on The Voice, and the singer said they’d been good, observing that it was the first time they’d shot in studio with ‘all these new protocols’ in place to protect the show’s cast against coronavirus.

‘The talent hasn’t changed a bit,’ affirmed John, now in his fourth season of the program. ‘In fact, I’ve said that this year’s blind auditions were the best group of singers I’ve seen on the show.’

Seth showed John a picture of the green glove on a mop handle that he used to shake hands with new contestants on the show.

He pointed out that Voice coach Gwen Stefani, 51, used a T-shirt cannon to shoot Team Gwen garb at contestants joining her team.

‘I took a substantially inferior approach,’ John admitted. ‘You can see how creepy it looks, and I make fun of myself and my glove for the entire season, and deservedly so.’

John had a new album out, Bigger Love, and said that with the ‘good news’ about a vaccine, he was hopeful that the world could get back to normal by August 2021.

The singer postponed his last tour until August 2020 due to the pandemic and rescheduled it again until August 2021.

He performed his new song Wild, saying it was ‘a song about being in love and being passionate,’ and that it was a favorite of his wife Chrissy, 34, who featured in the video.
