Former Manchester United midfielder Patrice Evra has confirmed his engagement to girlfriend  Margaux Alexandra after a year long romance. 

Taking to Instagram on Thursday afternoon, the Frenchman, 39, confirmed the news with followers while sharing an image of the stunning model with her engagement ring. 

Captioning the photo, he wrote: ‘It’s been more than a YEAR we are together, I mean since you stole my heart… after the second time we see each other I told you you going to be my wife for the rest of my life.

Evra, who was capped 81 times by France during a distinguished career before retiring in 2018, was first seen with the Dutch model in June, five months after his separation from wife Sandra. 

The retired footballer is understood to have ended his 13-year marriage to Sandra in January after moving out of the family home in Paris to work as a pundit for Sky Sports. 

The 39-year old, who became high-school sweethearts with Patrice after growing up together in Parisian suburb Les Ulis, was said to be heartbroken after he  left for to ‘work’.
