Jeannie Mai’s fiance Jeezy told her castmates on The Real Thursday that Mai ‘couldnt breathe’ amid a recent medical emergency that led to her withdrawal from Dancing With The Stars – and a critical operation.

‘I thank y’all for y’all prayers and y’all support,’ Jeezy, 43, said on The Real Thursday in a remote appearance. ‘She’s eating everything in the house, but she’s definitely doing well. It’s been hard to get her to rest, but she’s doing well.’

The Atlanta-based MC said that the 41-year-old TV host is dealing with a condition called epiglottitis, and went into detail about her symptoms and the treatment she’s received.

‘She began to get sick,’ Jeezy said. ‘She had some problems with her throat and we took her to the doctor and they gave her a shot of steroids and everything was good. It happened again, and I just started to notice she was having problems breathing.

He continued: ‘She woke up one morning and got up before me and I got up and went behind her, and I saw her, and she couldn’t breathe. I grabbed her immediately, took her to the emergency room … they found something, but they didn’t know.’

Jeezy said that after seeking a second opinion, another ‘doctor immediately looked at her and told her, “You’re done with Dancing with the Stars; you’re done. This is life-threatening and if you don’t get it fixed right now, you could possibly lose your life.”‘

Jeezy said that after undergoing surgery to fix the condition, Mai ‘was trying to figure out how to get back on’ DWTS.

Mai, who has been engaged to Jeezy since April, appeared on DWTS in a clip from a hospital, in which she opened up on leaving the show amid the medical situation.

‘I’m absolutely devastated that my journey on Dancing with the Stars has to end this way,’ she said. ‘I found out that I have a throat abscess, where my tonsils and my throat had gotten so infected that it started permeating to the rest of the areas behind my neck and behind my ears, that I had to get emergency surgery which is why I’m here now.’
