Kylie Minogue launches her own Signature Rosé wine but says she’s not a winemaker

Kylie Minogue admits that she’s ‘still intimidated looking at the wine list’ despite launching her own brand that includes a $17 Rosé that sold out on its first day in shops

Kylie Mingoue’s Signature Rosé wine sold out at UK supermarkets in May. 

But despite the success of her Kylie Minogue Wines range, the pop star insists that she is no connoisseur. 

The 52-year-old told The Daily Telegraph on Monday: ‘I am still the person who can be intimidated looking at the wine list and I think that is part of what is good about the journey for me.’

Kylie also insisted that she does not consider herself a professional wine maker – more of an extremely successful hobbyist. 

‘People are asking if I consider myself a winemaker or a vintner now and I am like, ‘no’. It is a journey for me as well to learn about wine and the process,’ she said.

However the Spinning Around singer says that she plans to become more educated on wines when the pandemic allows travel, and has the intention of visiting vineyards around the word.

She suggests that ‘baked salmon, topped with Japanese-style umami paste’ goes perfectly with her Signature Rosé. 

In May, bottles of ‘Kylie’ branded booze appeared in select Tesco supermarkets across the UK, with some stores briefly selling out.

The Australian pop princess did not officially announce the unexpected new venture, however there rumours she was ‘in discussions with vineyards’ in March. 

A source told The Sun in March of the venture: ‘[Kylie] is working with her team to make it happen and is in discussions with lots of vineyards to find the perfect wines.  

‘Kylie has loads of adult fans and it feels like a good fit for her to put her name to a wine which is sophisticated but fun, just like her’.
