Madison Beer gets ‘sad’ being pitted against Ariana Grande as she responds to being called a ‘wannabe’ version of the pop star: ‘She’s a f**king icon’

Madison Beer has responded to being called a ‘wannabe Ariana Grande’, and says being pitted against her ‘idol’ makes her ‘sad’.

The pop star, 21, was fielding questions in a recent Instagram Live when she was asked about the comparisons.

Madison felt they were being unnecessarily compared, but had nothing but high praise for the superstar, whom she called a ‘f**king icon.’

‘I just don’t think we’re to be compared’: Madison Beer has responded to being called a ‘wannabe Ariana Grande’, and says being pitted against her ‘idol’ makes her ‘sad’

‘I’ve openly supported and loved and been a fan of Ariana’s for years and years and years and years. So I think she would say and I would say that I think that she makes things and does things to inspire, and that’s what an artist is all about,’ she said.

‘I think it’s a little sad and hurtful when I see so many people really bullying and harassing me in a lot of ways, taking away the legit-ness of anything I do…I just don’t think we’re to be compared. I think that we’re our own people. She’s definitely inspired me because she’s one of my idols.

‘I love her so much. It makes me sad when I see people pitting us against each other when it’s nothing but love. I adore her and think that she’s a f**king icon… It’s just kind of mean, and I’m my own person.

‘And if she does something that inspires, I think that’s her goal. That’s what she’s always said she’s all about. So, I don’t know why there would ever be a problem with her positively impacting me or anyone else. I’m no different from any of you guys, you know?’

‘I just don’t really look at it because I know I’m my own person and I know that I have my own whole thing, and I have my own artists identity and I think people should stop comparing women and let them all do their thing on their own, and they don’t need to all be grouped in together.’

Madison really has been making a name for herself ever since being discovered at age 13 by Justin Bieber, who was impressed by a cover she did of Etta James’ At Last.

She subsequently landed a recording contract with the same label Justin was signed with, Island Records, and released her debut EP, As She Pleases, in 2018.

It won’t be much longer until fans will hear more from Madison this year with the release of her debut, full-length album Life Support.

A release date has yet to be announced.

She has, however, dropped the singles Good In Goodbye, Selfish, Stained Glass and Baby ahead of the album’s release.

Similar to Madison’s trajectory to fame, Ariana began her entertainment career at a young age, starring in the Disney series Victorious from 2010 to 2013.

She has since catapulted to becoming one of the biggest names in music with a Grammy under her belt.
