Miley Cyrus jokes that her family is ‘genetically’ wired to grow mullets… as she explains how she got her quarantine haircut
The Cyrus family knows a thing or two about hairdos.
And star Miley explained why both her and dad Billy Ray love rocking a mullet while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night, telling the host the family is ‘genetically’ wired for the look.
The Plastic Hearts singer, 28, joked that it ran in the family, telling Kimmel that Cyrus hair just grows into that shape ‘naturally.’

After Jimmy asked how she acquired her quarantine mullet, Miley explained: ‘I already had bangs and they were getting long.’
‘And [my mom] said, “Well I can cut your hair, but I only know how to do one hairstyle, and I’ve been doing this since 1992 for your dad and for your brothers.”
‘And all my mom can do is a mullet, so I had one option and needed it.’
Miley debuted her shaggy ‘do online back in May, posting an unfiltered Instagram of the ‘pixie mullet.’

Dad Billy Ray rocked the business in the front, party in the back style when he first rose to fame in the early 90s.
And though he’s since ditched his Kentucky waterfall, the Achy Breaky Heart singer still has a soft spot for his mullet.
In 2017 he released the track I Want My Mullet Back, telling listeners: ‘I want my mullet back. My old Camero, and my eight-track. Fuzzy dice hangin’ loose and proud. ZZ Top, they’re playin’ loud. A simple time, that’s what I miss.’
During her stop by Kimmel Cyrus was also surprised to learn how many tattoos she has.

Miley discovered she has a full 74 inkings as she went toe-to-toe with one of her superfans in a Cyrus-themed trivia contest.
When they were both asked for the number of Miley’s tattoos, it seemed the pair were stumped.
Fan Paul Feeno’s guess was 27. But, according to Jimmy, that number was too low.
‘I have no idea,’ Miley chimed in. ‘Um, because you probably are much more coherent when I am getting these tattoos than I am.’
When Kimmel revealed the finally tally – which is 74 tattoos – Miley’s jaw literally dropped. All she could muster in response was a ‘huh?’
Kimmel queried: ‘How many tattoos does Miley currently have?’ Paul Feeno’s guess was 27
‘I have no idea,’ Miley chimed in. ‘Um, because you probably are much more coherent when I am getting these tattoos than I am.’
