And Eminem apologized to Rihanna for a Chris Brown lyric in an old leaked song after releasing a surprise new album at midnight on Thursday.

In the song Zeus from his new catalog, Music To Be Murdered By – Side B, the 48-year-old rapper attempted to right his own wrongs with the note.

‘But, me, long as I re-promise to be honest / And wholeheartedly, apologies, Rihanna,’ he sang. ‘For that song that leaked, I’m sorry, Ri / It wasn’t meant to cause you grief.

‘Regardless, it was wrong of me.’

Nearly one decade ago, the artist – who’s full name is Marshall Mathers – created a song with lyrics siding with Chris Brown.

Brown infamously assaulted Rihanna after a pre-Grammy’s party in 2009 where he later plead guilty to felony assault charges and formally completed his probation in March of 2015.  

Dennis Dennehy, Eminem’s spokesperson, said in response to the leaked lyrics at the time: ‘This is a leak of something that’s over 10 years old. After Eminem recorded it, he scrapped it, and rewrote it. Obviously he and Rihanna have a great relationship.’ 

Eminem and Rihanna worked together on the massively successful hit Love the Way You Lie from his seventh studio album, Recovery.

The song – which had a theme surrounding domestic violence – sold more than 12 million copies and earned five Grammy nominations. 

In his latest catalog, a follow up to the A-side release in January, the Detroit-born musician recognizes the Black Lives Matter movement fighting for equality while MAGA rallies fight for salon services. 

‘This pandemic got us in a recession, we need to reopen America/ Black people dying, they want equal rights, white people want to get haircuts.’
