Anthony Mackie plays an andorid soldier in the new trailer for Netflix’s Outside the Wire

A human drone pilot and an android soldier make an unlikely duo who team up to save the world in the new trailer for Netflix’s Outside the Wire.

Anthony Mackie plays Captain Leo, an android officer who teams up with a disgraced drone pilot named Lt. Harp (Damson Idris).

They both team up and head into a deadly militarized zone to find a doomsday device before insurgents can get their hands on it.

The trailer starts with Harp walking in the rain when he tells a commanding officer (Michael Kelly) he’s looking for Captain Leo.

‘You must have really messed up if they sent you to Leo,’  the superior officer says while saluting.

Leo crosses his arms behind his desk, asking Harp, ‘Do you know why you’re here?’ He responds, ‘I’m here because I broke chain of command.’

We see Harp firing a missing from his drone that destroys a building, which is seemingly how he broke the chain of command, as Kelly’s character warns that Leo, ‘is not like us.’

Leo shows off some of his impressive combat skills, when we see he’s an advanced android, as Harp is quite dumbfounded.

Leo says he’s his, ‘commanding officer and I’m giving you 60 seconds to deal with it,’ which Harp does in a hurry.

When Harp asks if Leo is artificial intelligence, Leo reveals he’s beyond that, revealing he’s a ‘prototype’ whose, ‘existence is classified.’

Leo adds that he cant’ go on this new mission alone, and he, ‘needs someone who thinks outside the box, and that’s why you’re here.’

They start to bond a bit when Leo asks Harp about his girl, asking if he has a picture of her, which he does, as Leo says she’s a ‘hottie’ though he makes fun of the youngster when he sees that she calls him, ‘my gummy bear.’

Leo reveals that his system is so advanced he, ‘has the ability to break the rules, just like you,’ though that may not be such a good thing.

Harp tells Kelly’s character that he ‘removed his fail-safe,’ which seemingly terrifies him, as Emily Beecham’s character adds, ‘If your war machine turns against you, why should I care?’

Harp asks Leo what he’s using him for, but he doesn’t answer, stating only, ‘Do you trust me?’ as the trailer comes to an end.

Outside the Wire, directed by Mikael Hafstrom (1408) and also starring Pilou Asbaek and Kristina Tonteri-Young, debuts on Netflix January 15.
