House Of Cards creator Beau Willimon tapped to develop TV series based on strategy board game Risk

Popular board game Risk could be heading to screens.

The creator of the Netflix series House Of Cards, Beau Willimon, has been tapped to develop a series based on the game, THR.com reported on Monday.

First released in 1957, Risk challenges players to achieve world domination through strategy, diplomacy and war. 

In development: Hasbro-owned studio Entertainment One has inked a deal with Beau Willimon to create a TV series based on the popular strategy board game Risk

According to THR.com Monday, Hasbro-owned studio Entertainment One has inked a multi-year deal with Willimon’s Westward production company.

The first project will be adapting Risk for a TV series.

The board game is owned by Hasbro.

Michael Lombardo, global television president at Entertainment One, gushed in a statement: ‘In Beau, we’ve found an amazing combination of brilliant producer, singular creator, and avid fan of Risk. 

‘We can’t wait to work with him and the rest of the Westward team to reimagine that brand and so much more.’  

Willimon served as showrunner for the first four seasons of House Of Cards which starred Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright.
