Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock wraps up shooting her first-ever film Boxing Day

It’s been a triumphant few days for the star after Little Mix secured their fifth overall number one single for Sweet Melody last Friday. 

And Leigh-Anne Pinnock had more exciting news to share with fans on Thursday as she revealed she had finished shooting her first-ever film Boxing Day.

Taking to Instagram, the singer, 29, shared two behind-the-scenes clips of herself during filming in London.

Writing a lengthy caption alongside the videos, Leigh-Anne admitted that she had now caught the acting bug.

While she teased that the festive film would be available to watch next Christmas.  

Leigh-Anne penned: ‘And that’s a WRAP! My first ever film and hopefully not the last! I think I got the bug now.

‘I am so honoured to be starring in #BoxingDay with @warnerbrosuk and @film4 coming to a screen near you next Christmas!’

Leigh-Anne then sweetly gushed over her co-stars and said that filming had been a ‘dream’.

She continued: ‘This has been a dream from start to finish with the most incredible cast and team. And it wouldn’t have been possible without the belief of @brucepurnell113 and @amlameenbaby.’

Praising I May Destroy You actor Aml Ameen, with Boxing Day being his first directorial debut, Leigh-Anne said: ‘ @amlameenbaby you wise wise owl.

‘Thank you for mentoring me and taking me under your wing. You inspire me so much and I hope I’ve made you proud! We came here to win so let’s keep winning.’

Director Ameen co-wrote the festive comedy with Bruce Purnell, and it’s said to be based on some of his own experiences.

The actor stars as the British author Melvin, who comes home to London for Christmas and introduces his family to his American fiancée Lisa, played by Aja Naomi King. 

The couple’s relationship is put to the test by Melvin’s eccentric British-Caribbean family, and Lisa learns more about her fiancé’s past life than he ever shared with her.

In addition to Leigh-Anne, Ameen and Aja, Marianne Jean-Baptiste also stars in the film.

‘It is such an honour to be teaming up with Warner Bros. Pictures, Film4 and BFI to bring Black British Culture to the world in this universal holiday rom-com,’ Ameen said of the production.

‘It’s long been a dream of mine to capture films that reflect the wonderfully multi-cultural city that raised me while sharing stories from the diary of my life.’ 

Ameen recently made waves with his supporting role in Michaela Coel’s acclaimed drama I May Destroy You for BBC One and HBO.

Michaela stars as a social media star Arabella as she comes to terms with a sexual assault after her drink was spiked at a nightclub. 

Ameen plays her friend Simon, who takes her out on the night she’s assaulted, but leaves her at the end of the night when her drink is spiked in order to carry on an affair.

On Friday night, the group’s track Sweet Melody, from their latest album Confetti, leapt eight places to secure the top spot in the Official Singles Chart.

Teasing what’s next for the trio after fourth member Jesy, 29, revealed she had left the band in December, Leigh-Anne Pinnock said new music was on its way.

She told The Sun: ‘We have new music coming very soon. We’re working on something really exciting that will be out this spring, and can’t wait for you all to hear it.’

Boxing Day is set to be released next Christmas.
