Richard Wilkins admitted he had doubts about Milli Vanilli even before they were exposed for lip syncing.

The 66-year-old veteran entertainment reporter shared a throwback photo of himself with the German-French R&B duo on Instagram on Friday.  

‘Did you guys really sing those songs? #FlashbackFriday – reliving the moment I had the dubious honour of presenting Milli Vanilli with their gold records!’ he captioned the post.

And amused fans flooded the comments section, leaving a flurry of crying-with-laughter emojis.  

‘Still waiting for my refund,’ commented one fan, while another wrote, ‘Think I’d be hiding that pic.’

Added one person: ‘Wonder what they were actually thinking behind those smiles!’

Even Richard’s colleagues weighed in on the post, with A Current Affair host Tracy Grimshaw commenting: ‘At least you’re the real deal x’.

Meanwhile, fellow entertainment reporter Richard Reid couldn’t help but poke fun at the Today star. 

‘At least you got that Jeff Goldblum is dead right,’ commented the 52-year-old, referring to the infamous 2009 incident when Richard incorrectly reported the Jurassic Park actor had died.

Milli Vanilli formed in 1988, and consisted of Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus.

They sold millions of records throughout the late ’80s and early ’90s, before it was discovered they didn’t actually sing the vocals on any of their songs.

Consequently, the disgraced act was forced to return their Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
