Shafquat Reaz, prosecuting, said Crisp is alleged to have sexually assaulted the woman when he ‘approached her and, without warning, slapped her bottom’.

JPs accepted jurisdiction for the case and the defendant was given the choice of where he wanted the trial heard – in the magistrates or crown court.

Crisp, of Aspen Croft, Stafford, opted to have the trial heard by judge and jury at Worcester Crown Court.

He was granted unconditional bail to next appear on February 24.
