Courtney Love shares a photo of her late husband Kurt Cobain on what would have been his 54th birthday: ‘Beautiful boy’

Courtney Love shared a black-and-white photo of her late husband Kurt Cobain to her Instagram on Saturday morning.

The post was intended to commemorate the date of what would have been the Nirvana frontman’s 54th birthday.

The 56-year-old musician also included a quote from the liner notes of the band’s 1992 compilation album Incesticide in the post’s caption.

The quote read, ‘”At this point I have a request for our fans. If any of you hate homosexuals, people of a different color, or women , please , do this one favor for us -leave us the f*** alone ! Don’t come to our shows and don’t buy our records.”‘

Love also included a message of her own, writing, ‘Happy birthday beautiful boy.’

Accounts differ on when the former couple first met, with many sources remarking that Cobain had first spoken to his future wife after a 1989 show.

Music journalist Everett True later stated that he had personally introduced the couple at an L7 and Butthole Surfers show in 1991.

Cobain and Love were married in February of 1992 at the end of Nirvana’s Pacific Rim tour; the Come As You Are singer notably wore pajamas to his own wedding.

The two welcomed a daughter named Frances Bean, currently aged 28, the same year they tied the knot.

The couple’s relationship was widely covered in the media due to both individuals’ intense drug usage; Love later claimed to have stopped abusing substances after the birth of her daughter.

Cobain’s drug problems steadily worsened in his later years, and after entering rehab multiple times, he committed suicide at his Seattle home at the age of 27.

The couple’s relationship has been the subject of intense coverage, and multiple films and television series centering on the two have been produced since the singer’s passing.

In 1998, a documentary entitled Kurt & Courtney was released and popularized the theory that Love was directly involved in her husband’s death.

In 2015, Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck premiered on HBO and covered the guitarist’s life; his former wife and daughter attended the film’s premiere.

That same year, another documentary film entitled Soaked In Bleach was released to the public, although the feature predominantly focused on the singer’s death.

Upon the movie’s release, Deadline reported that Love had sent cease-and-desist letters to various theaters that screened the feature; no lawsuits were ever filed on her behalf.
