Matt Damon settles into a suite at Sydney’s six-star Crown Tower

Matt Damon and his family are, for the most part, staying at a $7,000-a-night mansion in Byron Bay during their extended visit to Australia.

But for their recent sojourn in Sydney, the Damons have checked into a luxury suite at the new Crown Tower with spectacular views of the Harbour City.

The six-star suites include a 24-hour butler service plus a secluded cabana with private infinity pool, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

Meanwhile, the Victorian government recently announced a royal commission into Crown Resorts, to test the suitability of the gambling giant to hold its Melbourne casino licence.

The announcement follows the release of the Bergin report in NSW last month, which found Crown facilitated money laundering through subsidiaries’ bank accounts and failed to act when it was drawn to their attention.

Commissioner Patricia Bergin, a former judge of the NSW Supreme Court, told the NSW Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority the money laundering alone rendered Crown unfit to hold the licence for its casino in Sydney’s Barangaroo.

Since arriving in Australia several weeks ago, Damon and his family have completed their mandatory quarantine at a sprawling estate in Byron Bay.

Located on the outskirts of the coastal town, the $7,000-a-night Airbnb boasts a swimming pool, tennis court and four bedrooms.

The Good Will Hunting star, 50, likely spent about $90,000 on the accommodation alone during his family’s mandatory 14-day quarantine period.

The property also offers panoramic ocean views, as well as expertly manicured gardens complete with stone sculptures, hedges and an extravagant fountain.

In stark contrast to the ultra-modern home owned by his friend Chris Hemsworth, Damon’s Airbnb oozes class elegance thanks to its French Provincial aesthetic.

At the time, Concierge Doctors CEO Dr Zac Turner said: ‘The family will be entirely segregated for the period of their quarantine and will participate in standardised testing and monitoring, in full compliance with current NSW Government requirements.’

Dr Turner added that NSW Police would be present to ensure quarantine was enforced.

Damon had previously said he was looking forward to ‘call[ing] Australia home’ for a few months while filming Thor: Love and Thunder.

‘I’m so excited that my family and I will be able to call Australia home for the next few months,’ he said.

‘Australian film crews are world renowned for their professionalism and are a joy to work with so the 14 days of quarantine will be well worth it.’

Thor: Love and Thunder is being filmed at Sydney’s Fox Studios.
