Sam Mac announces Samantha Armytage will be the new host of Studio 10

She sensationally quit Channel Seven’s Sunrise on Monday after eight years hosting the show.

And on Thursday, Samantha Armytage’s colleagues joked about where the TV star would end up next.  

Weatherman Sam Mac raised eyebrows when he joked that the 44-year-old is set to be the new host of rival breakfast show, Studio 10. 

The 39-year-old presenter caught Samantha off-guard during a live cross, blatantly joking: ‘I should probably announce that we are the new hosts of Studio 10.’ 

‘Welcome to the show, Sam and Sam in the morning, commencing on the 14,’ he continued, before quickly revealing he was joking.

Samantha appeared to nervously laugh off Sam’s joke, but didn’t rule out the suggestion.  

Samantha was ribbed, celebrated her final day at Sunrise.

Earlier on the show, Sam serenaded the departing host to the melody of Time of Your Life (Good Riddance) by Green Day.

But things took an awkward turn when the weatherman referenced Samantha’s recent comments that ‘TV was full of sociopaths and narcissists’ during his song. 

During the breakfast show, Sam broke out his guitar and said: ‘It’s an emotional day and obviously I speak to you best in song Sam. So I thought I’d do a little something to say goodbye.’ 

He started singing: ‘So now the time has come, Samantha is moving on. And despite repeated requests I’m doing another song.’ 

‘So many memories and you will be sorely missed. But it’s time to say goodbye to the sociopaths and narcissists,’ he continued as Samantha burst into laughter.

‘Everyone say goodbye and wave if you’re one of them. It wasn’t me Sam? You won’t referring to me?’ he asked.

While the weather presenter made light of her remarks, it’s rumoured the comments ‘angered her colleagues and bosses at Seven’.
