Kyra Sedgwick remembers accidentally pushing panic button at Tom Cruise’s home during celeb-packed dinner during A Few Good Men production

Kyra Sedgwick opened up to Drew Barrymore about a dinner party mishap at Tom Cruise’s home when she accidentally pressed a panic button.

The actress, 55, said the mistake occurred during a time her husband Kevin Bacon was shooting the now-iconic 1992 film A Few Good Men with Cruise.

‘It’s a pretty good story,’ the New York City native said on The Drew Barrymore Show. ‘It was a sad moment, but it was a funny story. So I was pregnant, I was very pregnant, and we got invited over to dinner.’

The Closer star noted how she had already known Cruise, having worked with him on 1989’s Born On The Fourth Of July.

‘We got invited over for dinner with lots of famous people like Demi Moore and Bruce Willis because she was in the movie,’ she said, adding that the film’s director ‘Rob Reiner was there,’ as was Cruise’s former wife Nicole Kidman.

‘It was one of those nights that I often don’t get invited to and so there was this like fireplace mantle and I was looking around and there was this little button underneath the mantle,’ she said. ‘I was like, “Oh what is that little button?” So I pressed the little button because I thought maybe something interesting will happen.

‘Nothing happened and then I got a little nervous. I was like, “Oh nothing happened that doesn’t seem right.”‘

Sedgwick recalled the reaction the perennial A-lister had when she brought it to his attention.

‘I tapped Tom on the shoulder, who was in the middle of a story, and I said, “I pressed this button down here,”‘ she said. ‘And he was like, “You pressed that button?” And I was like, “Yeah, I pressed that button.” And he goes, “That’s the panic button.”‘

Sedgwick remembered the reaction that happened in the aftermath of the accident.

‘So the cops came, they had to stop the screening, they had to see Tom,’ she said. ‘I think there were more than like five cop cars, it was something.’

She noted with a chuckle that she ‘didn’t get invited back.’
