Taylor Swift celebrates success of Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and gives an update on cat Meredith

Taylor Swift is enjoying immense success with the release of her re-recorded album Fearless.

The 31-year-old megastar took to Instagram to celebrate the news that Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is now one of the biggest country album releases in the last six years and ‘the top release of 2021 so far.’

In an Instagram video, Taylor also hilariously shared an update on her cat Meredith Grey after Swifties became concerned that she was missing since she stopped showing up on Taylor’s feed.

‘WELL WELL WELL you all really went out and left my greatest expectations in shambles this week,’ the Grammy-winner penned on Instagram.

‘Word on the street is you made Fearless (my version) the biggest country album first week of the last 6 years and the top release of 2021 so far. Honestly??? How?? Did I get this lucky????’

She then added: ‘I wanted to say thank you to you so today I will be addressing a very pressing issue.’

The ‘pressing issue’ she was referring to was the growing concern from fans that her cat Meredith Grey (named for Ellen Pompeo’s long running Grey’s Anatomy role) was missing.

Taylor appeared in a video holding her other cat Benjamin Button and explained the hysterical situation.

‘We’ve been hearing some rumors on the internet recently … I mean they’re not about you Benj,’ she said to the cat cradled in her arms. ‘But, they’re about your sister.’

A swath of fan comments appeared on the screen expressing their worry that something happened to the feline.

Then, a title screen flashed that read: ‘The truth is, Meredith just HATES having her picture taken’

‘So, yeah, there it is. There you have it. That’s the explanation,’ Swift said into the camera at the end. ‘She’s just a really private little cat.’

‘She likes her business kept to herself,’ the cat mom added. ‘She doesn’t like a camera shoved in her face. And who can blame her?’

The video ended with Taylor trying to get a quick interview with the reclusive Meredith: ‘So do you have any comment on the recent allegations that you’re a missing cat?’

True to form, Meredith quickly ran out of the frame.

One week ago Taylor dropped her first album re-release, Fearless (Taylor’s Version), that included the 2008 albums original track list and contemporaneous songs ‘from the vault.’

Recently, Taylor has been re-recording her first six albums after Scooter Braun purchased her entire music catalog out from underneath of her and then sold it without her knowledge.

Swift has been laser focused on work in the last 12 months, recording and releasing her two latest critically acclaimed and Grammy-winning albums during lockdown, Folklore A and Evermore.

She was also simultaneously re-recording her first six albums, as well as those additional vault tracks, for re-release.

After Fearless, Taylor confirmed that her next re-release will be her juggernaut 1989.

Scooter Braun, a 39-year-old music executive, unloaded the master rights to Taylor’s first six albums to private equity firm Shamrock Holdings in a deal believed to be well over $300 million in 2020.

Taylor called him out over the sale in a social media post and claimed that he intentionally kept her in the dark while he turned a hefty profit on her hard work.

Prior to the that, in 2019 Braun had purchased Nashville-based independent record label Big Machine, first taking the rights to Taylor’s body of work and at the time, she voiced public outrage at being cut out of the deal.

Swift said the news made her ‘sad and grossed out’ because, in part, she claims Braun perpetuated ‘incessant, manipulative bullying’ against her for years.
