Simon Cowell enjoys a stroll with a female pal as he gears up for a 10k charity walk

Simon Cowell enjoys a stroll with a colleague as he gears up for a 10k charity walk 10 months after breaking his back

He’s signed up to do a 10 kilometre walk for charity.

And Simon Cowell was getting in some early training on Wednesday as he was spotted on a stroll with his colleague Tania in London.

The music mogul, 61, proved there was no slowing him down as he pounded the pavement en route to the park – despite breaking his back less than a year ago.

In August, Simon was rushed to hospital to undergo six hours of surgery after nearly ‘smashing his spine into pieces’ in an electric bike accident.

Yet he looked fit as a fiddle as he headed out on his ramble in a blue T-shirt and white shorts that he teamed with black trainers and socks.

Not so trusting of England’s current heatwave, the father-of-one carried a padded black coat with him on his stroll.

The outing comes after it was revealed Simon will take on a 10k charity walk later this month after telling friends he feels ‘110 per cent’ amid his broken back recovery.

Simon has raised over £30,000 for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices after promising to complete the walk, despite the life-altering injury he sustained last year.

But a source close to the star told The Mirror that he is back on top form.

They said on Wednesday: ‘Simon is back to full fitness and has been telling pals he feels “110 per cent”.

‘He jumped at the chance to do the charity walk as it’s a cause so close to his heart.

‘He has a contacts book bulging with celebrity friends and rest assured they will all be getting calls about donating.’

The source added: ‘Simon has been having intensive physiotherapy to get back on his feet and has been steadily building his mileage by conducting business meetings on walks around the block.’

The Got Talent mastermind is expected to do the walk with his partner Lauren Silverman and the charity’s vice president Karen Sugarman.

The trio will complete the challenge to honour children who have passed away, after being supported the hospice charity in their final moments.

Simon has been using the last year to rebuild his health and fitness after injuring himself during an electric bike incident last year.

He reportedly came within ‘one-centimetre of being paralysed’ when he fell from the vehicle and broke his back in multiple places.

The entertainment mogul was rushed to hospital at the beginning of August when he fell from his bicycle whilst taking it for a test drive at his house in Malibu.

He was at home with his partner Lauren, 43, their son, Eric, six, and his stepson Adam, 14, at the time.
