Searchers find body in hunt for missing hiker who disappeared after posting a selfie from the top of Ben Nevis

- Officers confirmed last night that they had now recovered the body of a woman
The body of a woman has been found in the search for a hillwalker who vanished after reaching the top of Ben Nevis.
Sarah Buick, from Dundee, was last seen at the 4,413ft summit of Britain’s highest mountain early on Tuesday morning.
The 24-year-old had taken a selfie at around 5am and posted it on her Facebook page.
But friends and family became worried when she did not return home that day.
After extensive police appeals and a search operation, officers confirmed last night that they had recovered the body of a woman.

Personnel from Police Scotland, Lochaber mountain rescue and the RAF had been involved in the search of the peak near Fort William, Inverness-shire, when the body was found.
The body has yet to be formally identified but the family of Miss Buick have been informed.
A police spokesman said: ‘There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.’
Miss Buick, an experienced hillwalker, had set off from the Lower Falls area of Glen Nevis. She last shared images of herself at the top of the mountain on her Facebook page just as the sun had risen.
She captioned her post: ‘Good morning from Ben Nevis.’ Her friend Martin Brady raised the alarm when he did not hear from Miss Buick.

Before the discovery of the body, personal trainer Mr Brady, from Broughty Ferry, Dundee, had said: ‘I have been in touch with local police and her parents about this, I was the one who raised the alarm as I knew she was away. I haven’t slept since last night.
‘I spoke to police and they said they have two helicopters out with drones and the RAF covering the area.’
Miss Buick regularly shared images of the peaks she had climbed on her social media pages.
These also included Bidean nam Bian and Stob Coire Sgreamhach in Glen Coe just three weeks ago.
Following the tragic news that police had recovered a body, tributes flooded in on social media. One said: ‘Very, very sad news.’ Another commented: ‘Heartbreaking.’
Ben Nevis is known for its unpredictable weather but remains a popular spot, with more than 150,000 visitors climbing it every year.
